Human plasma monoamine oxidase. 1. Purification and identification.
نویسنده
چکیده
Amine oxidases that occur in the plasma of mammals have been intensively studied in recent years (l-8). The ability of human plasma and serum to convert benzylamine to benzaldehyde has recently been demonstrated (9). Evidence has been presented to show that this enzymatic activity is different from other human plasma enzymes that catalyze the oxidation of amines (i.e. ceruloplasmin and diamine oxidase) (9, 10). The present paper reports the purification of this monoamine oxidase activity from human plasma. It also defines the substrate specificity of the purified enzyme, the stoichiometry of the reaction it catalyzes, and inhibitors of the reaction.1

متن کاملThe amine oxidases of human placenta and pregnancy plasma.
1. The purification of monoamine oxidase and diamine oxidase from normal human term placental tissue is described. 2. The properties of these enzymes are reported and compared with the properties of unpurified human pregnancy plasma. 3. This comparison shows that the amine oxidase of pregnancy plasma has properties corresponding to purified placental diamine oxidase, suggesting a placental orig...
متن کاملMonoamine Oxidases—New Vistas. Advances in Biochemical Psychopharmacology. Volume 5
This volume consists of a collection of papers on the classical mitochondrial monoamine oxidase and other amine oxidases presented at the Festschrift for Dr. H. Blaschko at Cagliari, Sardinia, 1971. In it the results of many investigations on the biochemistry, pharmacology and possible function of these enzymes over the past several years have been brought together. Much of the book is devoted ...
متن کاملIdentification of Intracellular Sources Responsible for Endogenous Reactive Oxygen Species Formation
The endogenous reactive oxygen species ("ROS") formation is associated with many pathologic states such as inflammatory diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, brain and heart ischemic injuries, cancer, and aging. The purpose of this study was to investigate the endogenous sources for "ROS" formation in intact isolated rat hepatocytes, in particular, peroxisomal oxidases, monoamine oxidase, xanth...
